Los Angeles Lakers’ Trevor Ariza has ankle surgery, out at least two months

Trevor Ariza will be sidelined about two months after having surgery on his right ankle, the Los Angeles Lakers revealed Wednesday. Ariza, one of 11 new players added by the Lakers in the offseason, underwent an arthroscopic debridement procedure Wednesday. He has missed most of training camp due to the ankle. The Lakers stated Ariza, 36, will be reevaluated in approximately eight weeks. The San Diego Padres have fired Jayce Tingler, who presided over the biggest collapse in franchise history just a season after finishing second in voting for National League Manager of the Year. Colorado Rockies reach deals with pitcher Antonio Senzatela for five years, 1B C.J. Cron for two years

Right-hander Antonio Senzatela and first baseman C.J. Cron reached agreement on multiyear contracts with the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday. Senzatela agreed to a five-year deal that ties the right-handed control artist to the organization through at least 2026 and Cron agreed to a two-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed but, sources told ESPN that Senzatela’s deal is worth $50.5 million. The deal involves a $14 million club option for 2027 and gives the Rockies four potential free-agent seasons, the sources said.
