Elway avoids surgery in treating hand condition

Denver Broncos president of football operations John Elway revealed he underwent treatment for Dupuytren’s contracture in both his hands. “I had it on both hands,” Elway told Jarrett Bell of USA Today. “Both of my fingers are straight again. It’s not something that can be cured. But they can definitely treat it. It has a chance to come back. My hands have come back great. We’re trying to get the word out there, because a lot of people have it that don’t realize they have it.” Bell explained Dupuytren’s contracture, which prevents curled fingers from straightening, is known as “Vikings disease” because it is disproportionately found […]

Sanders to play for 1st time since Achilles tear

Emmanuel Sanders is back and ready to play football. It’s been a long road of recovery for the two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver, battling to return after suffering a torn Achilles in his left leg in December. That was only one of his hurdles, however, because it was also revealed recently Sanders had undergone “tightrope” surgery on the opposite ankle as well — to finally fix an issue that began at some point in 2017. With both injuries now completely behind him, Sanders will finally be allowed to again take the field on Monday night — per Adam Schefter of ESPN — when […]

Baltimore Ravens nickelback Tavon Young is expected to miss the entire season with a neck injury, coach John Harbaugh announced after Thursday’s 26-13 victory over the Green Bay Packers. Young hurt his neck in practice last weekend, and he didn’t play in the second preseason game. The expected loss of Young is a big hit to one of the best secondaries in the NFL. “Tavon has a more serious issue than we thought,” Harbaugh said. “He has a neck issue. It’s a disk issue. That’s a serious injury. He could be out for the remainder of the season. We’ll know soon. But it doesn’t […]

Molina returns to Cards as Martinez heads to IL

The Cardinals are making some big roster moves before Tuesday’s series opener against the Royals. Yadier Molina is finally back with the team — and outfield prospect Randy Arozarena is joining the big league club for the first time. St. Louis will activate Molina from the 10-day injured list, the team announced, after the veteran catcher missed more than a month with a right thumb tendon strain. The Cardinals are also calling up their No. 12 prospect Arozarena, who was raking at Triple-A Memphis. Jets CV Johnson hurts hamstring, out indefinitely

The New York Jets went into the preseason notably thin at the cornerback position. Unfortunately, it appears they have suffered what could be a crucial blow. According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, cornerback Trumaine Johnson has been ruled out indefinitely with a hamstring injury Johnson’s injury raises plenty of concerns regarding the state of the cornerback group going into the 2019 NFL season. The veteran provided much-needed stability to this otherwise inexperienced unit. To make matters worse, the Jets have yet to determine a potential timetable for his return. “Anytime a guy that makes a living running has a hamstring [injury] … we’ll see how […]

Raiders guard Jackson has MCL injury

The Raiders will be without starting right guard Gabe Jackson for approximately two months after he sustained a right knee injury Thursday during a joint practice with the Los Angeles Rams. Coach Jon Gruden said following practice the Raiders were “really concerned” and although their worst fears weren’t realized — Jackson is not out for the season and will not need surgery — the five-year veteran doesn’t figure to return until October. A source said Jackson would be out eight weeks with an MCL strain “give or take a few” depending on how fast he heals. If Jackson is out […]
