O’Connell confirms Sam Darnold will start at Vikings training camp

Sam Darnold will continue as the Minnesota Vikings’ lead quarterback when training camp opens next month, coach Kevin O’Connell stated Wednesday as the team wrapped up its final OTA of the spring. O’Connell stopped short of projecting anything beyond that, saying he plans for a “competitive” training camp at many positions. The Vikings have three other quarterbacks on their roster: Rookie J.J. McCarthy and veterans Nick Mullens and Jaren Hall. “We haven’t had to put out a depth chart or anything like that,” O’Connell said, “but yeah, I would say Sam would be the guy I would look to based upon the spring he’s had, and really […]

English Football Association (FA) chief executive Mark Bullingham insists a succession plan is in place should manager Gareth Southgate leave this summer but said there have been no discussions with any candidates or an approach from Manchester United for the England boss. The 53-year-old cast fresh doubt over his future this week in an interview with German newspaper Bild in which he claimed if England do not attain Euro 2024, “I probably won’t be here anymore.” Southgate’s contract expires in December and he wants to delay talks over an extension until after the finals. Sources have told ESPN that the FA want him to continue through […]
