Cowboys hope to reach deal with Dak Prescott, avoid franchise tag

Time might be running out, but Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones stays confident a long-term deal can be worked out with quarterback Dak Prescott before the organization will need to use the franchise tag. Jones said there are no talks scheduled with Prescott’s agent, Todd France, but the team intends to meet with him here at some point this week during the NFL scouting combine. Jones said there is no scenario in which the Cowboys would move on from Prescott in 2020. “I mean, Dak’s our quarterback. He’s our quarterback for the future and we have nothing but the greatest respect for […]

As the Milwaukee Bucks steam towards the top seed in the Eastern Conference and potentially 70 victories, officially clinching a playoff spot was a mere formality. With the Washington Wizards’ loss Sunday night, the Bucks became the first team to clinch a berth in this season’s playoffs. Feb. 23 is the earliest date on the calendar that a team has clinched in NBA history. Milwaukee bested the previous mark of Feb. 25 set by the Golden State Warriors in 2017. The Bucks sit atop […]

Yankees shut down Luis Severino with forearm soreness

New York Yankees starter Luis Severino has been shut down with soreness in his right forearm. Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Thursday that the right-hander will see Dr. Chris Ahmad, the team’s physician, Friday. However, GM Brian Cashman told reporters Severino won’t see the team doctor, adding that he’s uncertain if this is a short or long-term issue. Boone noted Severino has a loose body in his pitching elbow and that the soreness dates back to his last playoff start versus the Houston Astros on Oct. 15. Last year was a mess for Severino. After heading into the season with high expectations, he was immediately shut down in spring […]

Timberwolves´ Karl-Anthony Towns out indefinitely due to injury

The Minnesota Timberwolves can’t seem to catch a break. Trading for D’Angelo Russell before the deadline on Feb. 6 was met with a wave of optimism for the Wolves’ future going forward. They landed the point guard they’ve been chasing for almost a year, and it’ll subdue and fears of Karl-Anthony Towns bolting now that one of his best friends in the league is suiting up alongside him. The posibilities of making the playoffs this season are slim to none, but at the very least the pairing of Towns and Russell could develop some on-court chemistry before next campaign. That plan may be delayed, though, as […]

TE Greg Olsen joining Seahawks on 1-year deal

The first domino of the Seattle Seahawks’ offseason plans has fallen into place. Late Tuesday afternoon, ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported former Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen signed with the Seahawks, a move that was later confirmed by the team. It had been reported earlier in February by Schefter himself there was mutual interest between the Seahawks and Olsen. Now the rumors have become reality as Seattle has made the first headlines of the impending free agency season. This is a great low risk, high reward signing for the Seahawks. With only $5.5 million guaranteed to Olsen, Seattle certainly isn’t […]

Phillies´ Andrew McCutchen upbeat about recovery from knee injury

Andrew McCutchen can speak firsthand about modern medical advancements. He tore his ACL last year – and it wasn’t the first time. ”I had an ACL injury when I was in high school, so to kind of compare the two, as far as the process goes and the rehab, it’s a lot quicker,” the Philadelphia outfielder said Monday. ”You’re doing things a lot faster maybe than you did 16, 17 years ago. At the same time, I’m not 16 and rehabbing. I’m 33 now.” McCutchen played only 59 matches last year before going down with a torn ACL in early […]

The Cleveland Cavaliers and head coach John Beilein have discussed the option of him stepping down as head coach. Mariners´ Mitch Haniger undergoes second surgery

Mitch Haniger’s return to the Mariners for the 2020 campaign has been possibly delayed by yet another surgery. It was yet another unfortunate injury issue for the Mariners’ best player. Major league sources confirmed a report from ESPN’s Jeff Passan that Haniger underwent his second surgery in three weeks. While Haniger underwent a surgery to repair a sports hernia a few weeks ago, his most recent procedure was a discectomy, which is a procedure that removes part or the whole intervertebral disc. The issue arose a few days ago. Haniger posted a humorous photo from his hospital bed confirming the surgery. […]

Stunner gives Napoli first-leg Cup Win over Inter

Fabian Ruiz’s fine goal gave Napoli the edge in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final versus Inter Milan. Former Chelsea boss Conte was booked during the second half as Inter failed to fashion any clear opportinities, and they must now win in Naples next month. AC Milan face Juventus on Thursday at the San Siro in the second semi-final. Inter came from 2-0 down to defeat rivals AC at the […]

Red Sox promote Ron Roenicke to interim manager

The Boston Red Sox have replaced former manager Alex Cora with bench coach Ron Roenicke as interim manager, the team announced Tuesday. Cora parted ways with the team last month following his role in the Houston Astros sign-stealing scheme in 2017 when he was the Astros bench coach. Cora, who led the Red Sox to a World Series title in 2018, was not penalized in the Astros investigation because Major League Baseball is still investigating allegations that the Red Sox organization employed a similar system of using technology to steal signs during their World Series Championship season. “We were recently made aware of allegations […]
