Luka Doncic (calf strain) out for Mavericks’ preseason finale

Luka Doncic suffered a mild left calf strain during the Dallas Mavericks’ trip to Spain and has been ruled out of Friday’s preseason finale, coach Jason Kidd told reporters after Monday’s practice. Kidd stated Doncic would be “reevaluated later” and expressed hope that he would be available for the Mavs’ Oct. 25 opener on the road versus the San Antonio Spurs. Sodiq Yusuff absolutely pummeled Edson Barboza throughout the first round of their featherweight main event on Saturday in Las Vegas. Unfortunately for Yusuff, it wasn’t a one-round fight. Barboza (24-11) survived a dreadful opening round en route to a comeback unanimous decision victory at UFC Fight Night. All three judges called it for Barboza, via scores of 49-46, 48-46 and 48-46. Karl-Anthony Towns and Naz Reid each scored 14 points, and the Minnesota Timberwolves topped the Dallas Mavericks 104-96 on Saturday to complete a two-game sweep of the NBA Abu Dhabi matches.
