Kevin Durant carries Nets to OT win as Brooklyn’s COVID-19 protocols list grows to seven, including James Harden

After a whirlwind day that saw the Brooklyn Nets lose six players to the NBA’s health and safety protocols — including James Harden and Bruce Brown within an hour of tipoff before an eventual 131-129 overtime victory versus the Toronto Raptors — coach Steve Nash stated he briefly wasn’t sure Tuesday night’s game would be played at all. With seven Nets players entering the NBA’s health and safety protocols in the preceding 24 hours, Brooklyn would not have had the required eight available to play versus Toronto had star forward Kevin Durant, who was questionable due to right ankle soreness, been unable to go. “We had to debate it,” Nash said. Fincher looks for Springboard Mile repeat with Bye Bye Bobby

For trainer Todd Fincher and Bye Bye Bobby, the choices were limited. Fincher decided to run the Quality Road colt in the Zia Park Juvenile Stakes on Nov. 23. “My only option was to run him in the stake or don’t run him,” Fincher said. “Opportunities aren’t very good for 2-year-olds in some places, but it turned out good.” For the late-developing Bye Bye Bobby, the trial by fire went as well as it could have. He started off the pace in the six-furlong race before making up ground down the stretch and winning by 1 1/2 lengths. The result was […]

DeMar DeRozan, short-handed Chicago Bulls hand Brooklyn Nets ‘bad, tough loss’

With DeMar DeRozan drawing James Harden and Kevin Durant with him on a drive into the paint, Lonzo Ball was all alone on the right wing as he launched a 3, crouched in anticipation and then turned toward courtside to the fans behind him after drilling a late dagger versus the Brooklyn Nets. Down four rotation players due to health and injuries, the Chicago Bulls kept their surprising start to the season by erasing an 11-point third-quarter deficit to give the Nets a stinging 111-107 loss at Barclays Center on Saturday night.
