Trainer Fawkes Wins Three, Jockey Sutherland Four At Gulfstream Sunday

Veteran trainer David Fawkes has been forging his own path to the Gulfstream Park winner’s circle while saddling five winners from five starters over the past two programs at the Hallandale Beach, Fla., track. The South Florida mainstay, who has enjoyed much success on the national Thoroughbred stage, scored with his only two starters Saturday and his first three starters on Sunday’s card. He swept the first three races on Sunday’s nine-race card with Defendant ($3.60), Palomita ($5.60), and Golden Soda ($8.80), respectively. On Saturday, he visited the winner’s circle after victories by Wild Irishman ($5.60) in Race 3 and […]

Houston Astros starter Luis Garcia leaves Game 2 of ALCS in second inning with right knee discomfort

The Astros are still evaluating right-handed starter Luis Garcia after he left Game 2 of the American League Championship Series versus the Red Sox with right knee discomfort. Astros manager Dusty Baker admitted the injury probably affected Garcia’s performance after he permitted a first-inning grand slam to J.D. Martinez then walked the leadoff man in the second, on four pitches, before leaving. “I think it was his push-off leg,” Baker said after the Red Sox posted a 9-5 win to even the series 1-1. “He had a strain in his knee, and he is being evaluated by our doctors.” Baker couldn’t say if Garcia would be substituted on the ALCS […]

Seattle Seahawks expected to release former starting CB Tre Flowers

The Seahawks are expected to release former starting cornerback Tre Flowers in what marks more turnover for Seattle at the position, a source confirms to ESPN on Tuesday. Flowers started the season as a starter but was benched in favor of Sidney Jones after a loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3. Flowers’ issues in coverage continued in that game, and afterwards, he described it as a scheme issue while saying there was confusion among some Seattle defenders on how to defend certain route concepts. Looking for the best online betting site and Live betting? Visit Heritage Sports! Coach Pete Carroll later chalked up Flowers’ comments to […]

Houston Astros finish off Chicago White Sox to reach 5th straight ALCS as Tony La Russa fumes over ‘intentional’ Jose Abreu plunking

The Houston Astros advanced to their fifth consecutive American League Championship Series on Tuesday by defeating the Chicago White Sox 10-1 in Game 4 of their best-of-five division series matchup. The Astros are the third team ever to appear in five consecutive league championship series, and first to do so since the Atlanta Braves reached eight straight from 1991 to 1999. For the second time in five days, Astros starter Lance McCullers Jr. held the White Sox’s offense in check, giving up just a solo home run, to designated hitter Gavin Sheets, in the second inning. But McCullers left the game after four innings due to right forearm tightness. His […]

Cody Bellinger evokes 2019 MVP prowess with 2-run double in Dodgers’ Game 2 win

For a brief, fleeting moment — the amount of time it took Giants reliever Dominic Leone’s sixth-inning fastball to travel from his hand to the plate — Cody Bellinger looked like the guy who was the 2019 National League MVP. Bellinger was balanced and quick, two elements of successful hitting that have eluded him all season. The result was a two-run double to left-center that put the Dodgers ahead 4-1 and set the stage for what became a 9-2 victory in Game 2 of the National League Division Series on Saturday. Bellinger hit .165 with a .542 OPS this season, unfathomably bad numbers for a player who […]
