LeBron has triple-double, Lakers defeat Nets

The Los Angeles Lakers handed the Brooklyn Nets their fifth straight loss by defeating them 128-113 at Barclays Center on Thursday night.  The Lakers led by as many as 10 points in the opening quarter, but Brooklyn climbed back and cut the deficit to 38-35 entering the second. Mets close to naming Luis Rojas new manager

The New York Mets are nearing an agreement with Luis Rojas to become the club’s new manager, general manager Brodie Van Wagenen informed reporters, including MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo. The Mets had an unexpected opening after the team parted ways with Carlos Beltran in the wake of the Astros sign-stealing scandal last week. The Mets informed Beltran, who was hired by the Mets in November, was out as the club’s manager three days after Beltran was the only player named in the league’s nine-page report summarizing the investigation into the 2017 Astros. Felix Hernandez gets minor deal with Braves

Felix Hernandez will have a chance to pitch in 2020 after agreeing to a deal with the Atlanta Braves. Per Jon Heyman of MLB Network, the six-time All-Star signed a minor league contract with the Braves and will be able to participate in big league camp as a non-roster invitee. The contract is worth $1 million.  Hernandez spent the first 15 years of his Major League Baseball career with the Seattle Mariners. Former Washington Nationals manager Dusty Baker is in Houston to interview for the Astros’ managerial job opening. Giants make Alyssa Nakken first female coach in MLB history

The San Francisco Giants made a historic transaction on Thursday, hiring Alyssa Nakken as the first female coach in MLB history. She will be an assistant coach to manager Gabe Kapler alongside fellow new hire Mark Hallberg. Nakken, 29, joined the Giants in 2014 as a baseball operations intern. Todd Frazier gets one year deal with from Rangers

The Texas Rangers agreed to a deal with veteran third baseman Todd Frazier, according to the Dallas Morning News’ Evan Grant. The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported Frazier will get $5 million guaranteed. Frazier, who turns 34 in February, is coming off a 2019 campaign in which he batted .251/.329/.443 for the Mets with 21 home runs in 133 games.
