The Los Angeles Lakers will reportedly guarantee veteran center Dwight Howard’s $2.56 million contract for the remainder of the 2019-20 season. Nationals to bring back infielder Asdrubal Cabrera

The Nationals have agreed to terms with infielder Asdrubal Cabrera on a one-year, $2.5 million deal, per multiple reports.  Cabrera, 34, won a ring with the Nationals last season. He was signed by the Rangers in January but then released on August 3. Three days later, the Nationals signed him as a free agent. In 38 games down the stretch, Cabrera slashed .323/.404/.565 with six homers and 40 RBI while walking more times than he struck out. He wasn’t quite as productive in the postseason, hitting .233/.250/.267.  Cabrera can handle second or third base adequately, in theory, but he’s lacking range at this point in his […]

Magic F Jonathan Isaac to miss at least 2 months with knee injury

The Orlando Magic announced on Thursday that forward Jonathan Isaac will miss at least two months with a knee injury suffered Wednesday versus the Washington Wizards. Isaac attempted to eurostep past Wizards guard Bradley Beal on a drive to the rim, but he landed on Beal’s foot before crumpling to the floor. Isaac was taken off the court on a stretcher and initially diagnosed with a hyperextended left knee before MRI results on Thursday showed that he suffered a severe sprain labeled a “posterior lateral corner injury” and a bone contusion. He did not suffer major ligament damage. The Magic said they plan on evaluating […]

John Dorsey out as Brown General Manager

John Dorsey, who stormed into town in 2017 to ‘awaken the sleeping giant’ that is the Cleveland Browns, is out at the end of two full seasons as GM after refusing to take a giant reduction in his role from owner Jimmy Haslam. Dorsey, who lost clout after his hire of Freddie Kitchens failed miserably, was asked to take a back seat to the new head of the football department, who will pair with the new head coach. Dorsey, who went 13-18-1 in his two full seasons as GM, would’ve been more of a talent evaluator, such as a Vice […]

Orioles sign free agent pitches Kohl Stewart

The Orioles snuck in a major league free agent signing before the year closed, signing former Minnesota Twins first-round draft pick Kohl Stewart on Sunday to represent their first such acquisition of the offseason. Stewart, 25, was selected fourth overall in 2013 by Minnesota but struggled to live up to that promise with the Twins. He made his major league debut in 2018 and made 17 appearances (six starts) for Minnesota in the past two seasons, with a 4.79 ERA and a 1.435 WHIP without many strikeouts.
