Nikola Vucevic has ankle sprain, out 4 weeks at least

The Orlando Magic have struggled to open 2019-20 and will apparently be shorthanded moving forward. All-Star center Nikola Vucevic was diagnosed with a right lateral ankle sprain and will be re-evaluated in 7-10 days. Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that the injury should sideline Vucevic for a month. The Magic are currently 6-8, but are 0-5 on the road after falling to the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night.   Vucevic and forward Aaron Gordon both suffered right ankle injuries in the second quarter of Wednesday’s game. Vucevic used two crutches to leave the locker room afterward, while Gordon had one. Vucevic is […]

Lamar Jackson leads Patrick Mahomes in Pro bowl voting

Lamar Jackson currently does not have a peer when it comes to the NFL MVP race. Jackson is also peerless when it comes to fan voting for the 2020 NFL Pro Bowl.  Jackson, the Ravens’ second year signal-caller, is leading the fan vote for this year’s Pro Bowl. According to an NFL press release, Jackson had already got 146,171 fan votes as of Wednesday evening, less than a week after fans could start voting for their favorite players.  Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was second with 116,325, with fellow quarterback — and league MVP candidate — Russell Wilson coming in third with 115,370 votes. Vikings running back Dalvin Cook (106,167 votes) and Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey (100,218 votes) rounded […]

Nets´ Irving to miss third consecutive game with shoulder injury

Kyrie Irving missed Saturday’s Brooklyn Nets victory over the Chicago Bulls with a shoulder impingement, but he doesn’t appear to have improved enough for a return. After missing Monday night’s game versus the Indiana Pacers, the Nets announced that their star point guard would miss Wednesday’s game versus the Charlotte Hornets with that same injury, and while he isn’t projected to be out for too long, his continued absence is going to be a problem for Brooklyn.  The Nets lost Caris LeVert to a thumb injury last week. Brooklyn is extremely dependent on just three players to create plays for them offensively. The combination of Irving, LeVert and Spencer Dinwiddie are responsible for over […]

Colts RB Marlon Mack has surgery on hand, out indefinitely

In the midst of a career season, Indianapolis Colts running back Marlon Mack will miss an unspecified amount of time after suffering a fracture in his hand on Sunday versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Colts confirmed on Monday. It’s unclear at this point how much time Mack will miss. Colts coach Frank Reich said that Mack underwent surgery on Monday, but did not know of a timetable for his return. He is out for this Thursday’s game versus the Houston Texans, however Schefter reported that the injury is not thought to be season-ending. A fourth-round pick in 2017, Mack has played in all […]

Kings snap Celtics 10-game winning streak

The Boston Celtics were an unlucky bounce away from extending an historic start to their season. Instead, the Sacramento Kings walked away with a huge win. Buddy Hield scored a season-high 35 points, Richaun Holmes hit two free throws with 13.3 seconds remaining to give Sacramento the lead, and the Kings snapped the Celtics’ 10-game winning streak with a 100-99 victory Sunday. Marcus Smart had an oportunity to win it for Boston, but his runner in the lane bounced around the rim before trickling off as the buzzer sounded. ”The ball just felt like it sat on the rim forever,” Smart said. ”I thought it was going in. Federer defeats Djokovic to advance to semifinals of ATP Finals

Roger Federer will be the first to accept that defeating Novak Djokovic at the ATP Finals on Thursday night doesn’t make up for his gut-wrenching defeat in the Wimbledon final but he avoided a double blow in London and inflicted some woe on the Serb himself. Federer’s convincing 6-4, 6-3 victory in front of a roughly 18,000-strong crowd that backed him as vociferously as in July’s Wimbledon final — when he held a pair of match points on his own serve — sent him to the semifinals at the year-end championships at Djokovic’s expense. “I’m just happy at the level […]

George could make Clippers debut at New Orleans

Paul George could make his Clippers debut when L.A. visits New Orleans on Thursday. He hasn’t played this season because of surgery on both shoulders that took place before he was traded to the Clippers in the summer. Los Angeles also has been limiting fellow newcomer Kawhi Leonard’s action on back-to-backs for load management. Generally he has sat out the first game of back-to-backs, but he started and played 41 minutes in a 102-93 loss at Houston on Wednesday night, leaving his status for Thursday unclear. Whether or not George and Leonard take the court together for the first time Thursday, fans […]

Djokovic, Federer set for ATP Finals showdown

Novak Djokovic succumbed to the extraordinary Dominic Thiem at the ATP Finals Tuesday as the Austrian became the first man to qualify for the semifinals in London. Despite winning the first set tie-break, Djokovic was second best to Thiem, who found his form to comeback 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 7-6 (7-5) in a thrilling meeting. The 26-year-old Thiem is competing at his fourth consecutive ATP Finals but had never defeated Djokovic on the hard court before. “This was really one of these special matches, what I’ve practiced all my life for, all my childhood for,” said Thiem. “Really epic one in an amazing atmosphere, […]

Baltimore Orioles pitcher John Means ended second in the voting. Tampa Bay Rays infielder Brandon Lowe was third. The American League did not feature a particularly strong crop of rookies beyond Álvarez. He established his superiority almost instantly upon his call up on […]

Raptors end Lakers´s winning streak

In the opening weeks of life after Kawhi, the defending champs are learning they might be deeper than even they recognized. They definitely had enough to hold off Staples’ marquee tenants in a remarkable early-season victory. Pascal Siakam had 24 points and 11 rebounds, Fred VanVleet ended with 23 points and 10 assists and the Raptors snapped the Los Angeles Lakers’ seven-game winning streak with a 113-104 win Sunday night. Chris Boucher matched his career high with 15 points for the Raptors, who have won three straight and six of seven. Two days after they lost starter Kyle Lowry to a broken left thumb and […]
