Chris Sale worked five scoreless innings in his season debut, but the Boston bullpen couldn’t hold a two-run lead in a 3-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night. Sale, out all season with a fracture in his right rib cage, permitted three hits with one walk and struck out five. Damian Lillard reaches 2-year, $122M extension with Portland Trail Blazers

Star point guard Damian Lillard has agreed to a two-year, $122 million deal extension with the Portland Trail Blazers that will tie him to the franchise through the 2026-27 season, sources told Andscape’s Marc J. Spears and ESPN’s Bobby Marks. Lillard signed his deal Saturday in Las Vegas, a source told Spears. Lillard’s current deal, signed two years ago, runs through the 2024-25 season.
