Lowe helps power Rangers sweep past Diamondbacks 8-5

Nathaniel Lowe didn’t want to steal the thunder from his brother Josh’s big day. Lowe had three hits and missed a cycle by a home run as the Texas Rangers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-5 Wednesday to match a season high with their fourth consecutive win. The big news in the Lowe family was the major league debut of younger brother Josh with Nathaniel’s former team, the Tampa Bay Rays. He was in the Rays’ starting lineup, batting eighth and playing right field, versus the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park on Wednesday night. Nathaniel had a shot at the cycle in the ninth but grounded out. “I […]

Chicago Bulls Sign Forward Alize Johnson to Two-Year Deal

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the 25-year-old power forward has signed a two-year $3.6 million deal with Arturas Karnisovas and Co.   In desperate need of depth at power forward after missing out on both Paul Millsap and LaMarcus Aldridge, Johnson entered the picture as a possibility when the Nets waived him late last week.   On a Monday where the Bulls also reportedly added both Stanley Johnson and Matt Thomas, Alize Johnson is easily the most intriguing signing. He might have the fewest professional matches under his belt, but he does provide better size and physicality for this team to slot into […]

Paul Millsap agrees to deal with Nets

Paul Millsap has agreed to a deal with the Brooklyn Nets, his agent, DeAngelo Simmons, told ESPN on Thursday. Millsap becomes the latest former All-Star to join the Nets over the past few seasons, joining Blake Griffin, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden. Millsap’s four All-Star appearances bring Brooklyn’s total up to 38. For the first time since his second year in the league in 2007-08, Millsap failed to average double figures in scoring last campaign. He averaged just 9.0 points and 4.7 rebounds in 56 matches for the Nuggets. Following a trade for Aaron Gordon in late March, Millsap lost the starting job he had held with Denver […]

Josh VanMeter homered in a six-run third inning as the Arizona Diamondbacks knocked out Yu Darvish on the way to an 8-3 triumph over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday. Luke Weaver (3-3), making his first start in 3 1/2 months, took a shutout into the sixth inning.  Pavin Smith and Ketel Marte had three hits apiece. Arizona, which was held hitless for seven innings by Blake Snell on Tuesday, busted out with 13 hits Wednesday to snap a five-game skid, prevent a series sweep and keep the Padres from gaining ground in the NL wild-card race. Rays win 9th in row; Red Sox star Bogaerts tests positive

Randy Arozarena, rookie Wander Franco and the Tampa Bay Rays won their ninth consecutive game, breaking away from Boston 8-5 Tuesday night soon after Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts was pulled because of a positive COVID-19 test. Bogaerts hit an RBI single in the first inning, but the star was replaced defensively in the second. It was announced before the game that Boston reliever Hirokazu Sawamura tested positive as a virus surge that started last week continues having a daily impact on the playoff-contending Red Sox. Franco and Austin Meadows had RBI singles and Yandy Díaz hit a two-run double during a six-run third for the Rays, who are a […]

I feel like I’m not afraid to fail in that moment.” The Dodgers finally cashed in with the bases loaded after failing to score under similar circumstances in the first and third innings. Paul Goldschmidt homered twice and scored the game-ending run on Lars Nootbaar’s single in the 10th inning as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Detroit Tigers 3-2 on Wednesday. Goldschmidt was intentionally walked to open the 10th and executed a one-out double steal with automatic runner Tommy Edman.  Nolan Arenado was intentionally walked. Belt homers twice for career-best 19, Giants drub Mets 8-0

Brandon Belt hit two of San Francisco’s four home runs to push his career-best total to 19, rookie Sammy Long pitched into the sixth inning and the Giants trounced the slumping New York Mets 8-0 Tuesday night. After using late-game homers to steal consecutive triumphs from Oakland on Saturday and Sunday, San Francisco powered up early at Citi Field. LaMonte Wade Jr. and Mike Yastrzemski also connected in the first four innings as the Giants jumped to a 7-0 advantage against rookie Tylor Megill (1-3). The lone concern for the Giants: seven-time All-Star catcher Buster Posey was removed with right knee discomfort in the fifth, one inning after being visited behind the […]
