Chiefs release D-lineman Isaiah Buggs after multiple arrests

The Kansas City Chiefs on Monday released defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs, who has been arrested multiple times in Alabama this offseason. Buggs was booked on a domestic violence/burglary charge in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on June 16. That came after he was charged May 30 with two misdemeanor counts of second-degree animal cruelty in Tuscaloosa. Two dogs allegedly under his care — a pit bull and a rottweiler mix — were found to be neglected and severely malnourished. The pit bull had to be euthanized. PGA Tour creates sponsor exemption for Tiger Woods, cites ‘exceptional lifetime achievement’

The PGA Tour has created a special sponsor exemption for 15-time major champion Tiger Woods — and Woods alone — based on his “exceptional lifetime achievement,” the tour told its members in a memo Tuesday night. The sponsor exemption would be available for Woods to compete in the eight signature events, which feature limited fields, increased prize money and FedEx Cup points. Woods, an 82-time winner on the PGA Tour, wouldn’t otherwise qualify for the signature events with $20 million purses because he isn’t playing enough competitive golf after returning to the tour from serious injuries suffered in a car wreck in […]

England combo with Bellingham will grow – Foden

After a shaky start to England’s European Championship campaign that had critics questioning his starting spot, Phil Foden has insisted his partnership with Jude Bellingham will only flourish. Foden was a headliner in Premier League last season, scoring 27 goals for Manchester City across all competitions to win the Premier League Footballer of the Year award. But lining up on the left of a front three in England’s 1-0 win over Serbia, with Bellingham occupying the central No. 10 position in which Foden has thrived with City, he drifted out of the game. “Jude’s obviously an exceptional talent,” Foden said in a Football Association video. “He’s a leader now, I think he’s turning […]

Golfers now have additional 15 minutes to correct scorecards

The temptation would be to refer to a change in the scorecard procedure as the “Jordan Rule,” only because Jordan Spieth was the most recent example. Players now have an additional 15 minutes to correct their scorecard before it is deemed to have been returned. Players were informed at the U.S. Open of the change. The USGA adopted the amended definition of when a card is “returned” at the U.S. Women’s Open two weeks earlier. It now goes into effect on most major tours this week. The PGA Tour stated the goal was “minimizing penalties or disqualifications related to scorecard errors.” Looking […]

The wait is over: Gerrit Cole will make his season debut for the New York Yankees versus the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday. Slovakia upset Belgium as VAR denies Lukaku twice

Ivan Schranz scored Slovakia’s quickest goal at a major tournament to take his side to a gritty upset 1-0 triumph over wasteful Belgium in European Championship Group E on Monday. It was Belgium’s first loss in 16 matches under coach Domenico Tedesco and a flashback to their disastrous 2022 World Cup campaign, although they did have two goals ruled out by VAR. Both were from the boot of Romelu Lukaku, the first for offside and the second a handball in the buildup on a hugely frustrating day for the Roma striker in which he also missed several clear-cut chances. After the match in Frankfurt, Germany, […]

The Chargers signed safety Tony Jefferson on Friday, the team revealed. Jefferson spent last season as a scouting intern with the Baltimore Ravens after announcing his retirement in May 2023.
