The Arizona Diamondbacks hadn’t been playing well but a trip to Turner Field to face the Braves turned their frowns upside down with a three game sweep of Atlanta following a 5-3, eleven inning victory on Sunday. Diamondbacks starter Patrick Corbin tossed seven scoreless frames before leaving with a 3-0 lead before Andrew Chafie came on and promptly surrendered three hits including a three run homer. The Snakes attack consisted of nine hits and a walk with Chris Hermann delivering a solo homer and a walk off two run jack. The Arizona Diamondbacks turn to Rubby De La Rosa for the series opening start at Coors Field. De La Rosa is coming off of a 4-3 loss at Miami where he was charged with all four runs scored on eight hits in 5.2 frames.

I have said many times that the Colorado Rockies might not win the National League West but they are tougher then what most people credit them for. The Rockies proved that point when unheralded Eddie Butler dominated a dangerous San Francisco lineup on the road by a 2-0 count on Sunday. Butler threw a four hit shutout through six innings while four relievers held the Giants off the scoreboard. Colorado produced nine hits and walked once with Nolan Arenado and Gerardo Parra recording RBI’s while Trevor Story and Carlos Gonzalez scored. A red hot Tyler Chatwood gets Monday’s start versus the visiting Diamondbacks. Chatwood has logged consecutive shutouts with eight hits and four BB allowed over 14.1 innings.

Arizona are 2-6 in their last 8 overall and are 2-6 in their last 8 games on grass while going  11-4 in their last 15 Monday games.

The odds for Colorado and Arizona are even, while the Over/Under (O/U) is currently not available. Within its division, Colorado has a record of 8-8 SU. The Rockies have no trouble scoring as they rank third in the NL in offense with 0.0 runs per game. The Rockies are one of the best in the MLB in terms of batting average with a phenomenal team average of .275. Colorado’s pitching staff has been doing better against opposing offenses during the last 10 games, only allowing an average of 0.0 runs per game, well under their season average of 0.0.

The Diamondbacks are 12-10 against NL West foes. Offensively, the Diamondbacks have really picked up the pace in the last 10 games. They have exceeded their season average of 0.0 runs per game by averaging 0.0 during that stretch. The Diamondbacks have a dynamic offense, ranking fifth in the league with 114 extra base hits. The Diamondbacks allow 0.0 runs per game, but have improved upon those numbers in the past 10 games, allowing 0.0 runs per game during that span.

The Rockies have controlled the season series, 5-1.
