Hawks blow out Bucks 110-88, tie series at 2-2 as Antetokounmpo leaves early with injury.

The Atlanta Hawks took on the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 4 on the Eastern Conference Finals Tuesday night, looking to even the series at 2-2 on their home floor. Without Trae Young, Atlanta certainly had their work cut out for them if they wanted to get back in the series. In what was a wild game, the Hawks were able to take home the 110-88 victory.

The Hawks started the match on a 10-2, as it was team effort out of the gates. Bogdan Bogdanovic, Kevin Huerter, Lou Williams and Clint Capela all scored inside of the first three minutes of the first quarter.

The Hawks led 15-5 at the 6:40 mark, seemingly out hustling the Bucks on both ends of the floor in the early going. Milwaukee would bounce back, however, going on a 15-4 run to the game at 19. Atlanta led 25-22 heading to the second quarter.

Early in the second period, the Hawks received a few massive minutes from Onyeka Okongwu. The rookie had seven points, two rebounds, and two huge blocks in ten-minute stretch.

Williams led all scorers in the first half with 13 points, proving that he’s still a bucket, if anyone had any doubts. The Hawks led 51-38 at the break, holding the Bucks to 14-of-42 (33.3%) shooting in the first half. Milwaukee was just 5-of-23 from three (21.7%).

Notably, Atlanta was able to hold Giannis Antetokounmpo relatively quiet in the opening half, as he scored just six points.

The third quarter was a different story, with Antetokounmpo scoring eight points in the first five minutes of play. However with just over seven minutes left in the third, he would go down hard after a dunk by Capela, and have to be helped to the locker room with an apparent knee injury. He was on the floor in pain for an extended period before being helped off. He returned to the bench a few moments later, seemingly walking fine.

The Hawks engineered a 15-0 run in the third quarter, taking a 23-point lead into the later moments of the period. Atlanta led by 25 heading to the fourth quarter, as Milwaukee struggled to do much of anything without their leader. The Hawks shot 62% from the floor and hit seven threes in the third quarter.

The Bucks made a 9-0 run to make it a 16-point game to start the fourth, but their run sputtered out from there. The Hawks were able to get some offense going, finally, after a three minute scoreless drought, and lead by 21 with 5:15 to go. This shot by Capela lit a fire under the crowd and may have been some sort of a poetic dagger, though there was still plenty of time on the clock, obviously.

Atlanta finished off the victory from there, winning by a final score of 110-88.

Williams led all scorers with 21 points, while Bodganovic had 20. The two backcourt mates came up huge in the absence of Young. Kevin Huerter had 15 points, seven assists and six rebounds in the win. Reddish had 12 points (5-of-9 from the floor), five rebounds and two steals.

Holiday lead Milwaukee with 19 points and nine assists, while Middleton had 16 points. Antetokounmpo had 14 points and eight rebounds in 24 minutes before the injury.

The Hawks and Bucks will now battle for Game 5 in Milwaukee on Thursday, with a series lead on the line.
