The New York Mets have hired Buck Showalter as their new manager, team owner Steven Cohen revealed Saturday on Twitter. Showalter received a three-year contract, according to a person familiar with the deal. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the length of the agreement had not been announced. The Miami Marlins obtained All-Star third baseman Joey Wendle as part of a deal with the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday. In return, the Rays got back Kameron Misner, a 23-year-old outfield/third base prospect. Wendle spent the past four seasons with Tampa Bay.
