Detroit Pistons set NBA record with 27th straight loss

It’s history not many fans inside Little Caesars Arena were looking forward to experiencing Tuesday night, but the Detroit Pistons couldn’t avoid NBA infamy, dropping their 27th consecutive game with a 118-112 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. It’s the most consecutive losses in a single season in league history. The 76ers have the overall record, losing 28 straight, but that spanned the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons. Detroit hasn’t won a match since its home opener Oct. 28, versus Chicago, and now is 2-28 on the season. Entering Tuesday’s game, Pistons coach Monty Williams couldn’t avoid the topic of the all-time losing mark — […]

Kyrie Irving’s season-high 50 points lead Brooklyn Nets past Charlotte Hornets to snap skid

Kyrie Irving’s 50-point outburst during Tuesday night’s 132-121 victory over the Charlotte Hornets was so impressive that Kevin Durant spent the first few moments of his postgame news conference clapping for his teammate at the podium. Durant called Irving’s performance a “master class” and said younger players should watch it to learn how he handled his business on the floor. “Everything he does is pure,” Durant said after the game. “It looked so easy tonight. I look up, he had 10 points and it felt like he only took two shots in the first quarter. And I told Seth [Curry], I’m like, ‘Damn, I didn’t know he […]

Moments after winning their 16th consecutive game, the Phoenix Suns could be heard clapping and shouting in celebration of their latest triumph on their way into the visitor’s locker room at Barclays Center. “We run New York!” one member of the Suns team could be heard shouting in the hallway. The Suns (17-3) completed a road sweep of the New York teams on back-to-back nights and moved within one win of matching their franchise’s longest winning streak with a 113-107 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday. Giannis Antetokounmpo shuns 3s, goes on attack as Milwaukee Bucks force Game 7

With his team’s season on the line, Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo entered Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals with a clear goal in mind: to attack every opportunity he could. After so much of this series has been dominated by chatter about his wayward jump shot, Antetokounmpo ensured Milwaukee would survive and force a Game 7 Saturday night in Brooklyn by relentlessly forcing his way to the rim. The result? Milwaukee cruised to a 104-89 triumph while Antetokounmpo finished with 30 points, 17 rebounds and three assists in 41 minutes — all while not taking a single 3-point shot. “That was just […]

Durant scores 21, Nets beat Bulls 115-107

Kevin Durant had 21 points and eight assists, and the Brooklyn Nets beat the Chicago Bulls 115-107 on Tuesday night despite Zach LaVine’s 41 points. Joe Harris added 17 points and Bruce Brown had 15 as Brooklyn won its second consecutive after a four-game slide. Chicago had its three-game winning streak — and probably its postseason hopes — end. Brooklyn, which lost guard Kyrie Irving to an apparent facial injury early in the second half, led 93-74 at the start of the final period and sat its starters for most of the period. LaVine, who had 12 points in the fourth, forced them back in by scoring eight straight to […]

Brooklyn Nets guard James Harden suffers setback in hamstring rehab, out indefinitely

James Harden experienced what the Brooklyn Nets are calling a “setback” in his hamstring rehabilitation and is now out indefinitely. “Back to square one,” Nets coach Steve Nash stated Tuesday. “We’ll rehabilitate him and get him back whenever we can, and who knows when that will be. We’ll support James and our performance team in getting him back in as best condition as possible. And hopefully that comes sooner than later, but there’s no guarantee.” Harden experienced the setback Monday during an “on-court rehab session” and had an MRI on Tuesday, according to the team’s statement. Nash said that Harden didn’t fall or […]

James Harden rejects Rockets extension; focus on trade to Nets

After turning down the opportunity to become the first $50 million per year player in league history, Houston Rockets All-NBA guard James Harden has made it clear to ownership that he’s singularly focused on a trade to the Brooklyn Nets, sources told ESPN. As Harden’s conversations with the Nets’ stars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving ramped up in recent weeks on the West Coast, sources said the Rockets made a pitch for him to sign the maximum admissible extension — two years and $103 million on top of the remaining three years, $133 million on his current deal. So far, Harden’s determination to get to Brooklyn has resulted in […]

Kevin Durant rules himself out for remainder of 2019-20 season

Kevin Durant told ESPN’s The Undefeated on Friday that he will not debut for the Brooklyn Nets during the 2019-20 NBA season after it restarts next month. Durant has not played since he tore his Achilles tendon last June 11 during Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals while playing for the Golden State Warriors versus the Toronto Raptors. The two-time NBA Finals Most Valuable Player will be a year removed from the injury when the Nets return to action on July 31 in Orlando, Florida, in a 2019-20 season pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic. Although Durant said he feels much improved and is training […]
