Lakers finally have NBA Championship depth – Darvin Ham

Los Angeles Lakers head coach Darvin Ham told ESPN that the Lakers finally have the depth to earn another NBA Championship, admitting their roster was a touch shallow during their 2022-23 season. The Lakers got last season off to a horrific start, going 0-5 and 2-10 in their first 12 games. However, Ham, who replaced Frank Vogel ahead of the campaign, oversaw a turnaround in fortunes as they scraped into the playoffs, and then beat the Memphis Grizzlies and Golden State Warriors on the way to a 4-0 Western Conference loss to the Denver Nuggets. They have moved proactively ahead of the new campaign, retaining key […]

Stephen Curry: Return to play for Warriors fluid amid recovery

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry stated Monday that there is no target date for him to return from his left lower leg injury that has held him out since Feb. 4. The team plans to reevaluate Curry after the All-Star break, but Curry said he will miss the Warriors’ first game out of the break versus the Los Angeles Lakers on Feb. 23, and likely a few more after that. Curry suffered partial tears to his superior tibiofibular ligaments and interosseous membrane as well as a contusion to his left lower leg when his knee collided with Dallas Mavericks point guard McKinley Wright IV’s earlier this month. LeBron James to miss Lakers´ game Thursday with sore groin

This season’s tilts with the Golden State Warriors have lacked their normal star power, owing to long-term injuries to All-Star guards Klay Thompson and Steph Curry. When the Lakers tip-off versus the Warriors on Thursday night in San Francisco, they too will sit a star LeBron James. The team informed Wednesday afternoon that James, 35, would sit out against Golden State with left groin soreness. It’s just the third match the league’s assists leader and MVP contender (25.5 ppg, 10.6 apg, 7.7 rpg) has missed this season. The news comes the day after a season-high 40 point effort by James, […]

Warriors Klay Thompson out until at least All-Star break

No team in the NBA will begin the 2019-20 season with more lost star-power than the Golden State Warriors, who for the first time in more than half a decade aren’t considered the title favorite, or even a lock to make the playoffs. Kevin Durant, gone. Andre Iguodala, gone. Klay Thompson, out until at least the All-Star break — per Warriors GM Bob Myers — as he continues recovering from the torn ACL he suffered in Game 6 of last season’s Finals. The typical ACL recovery we see in the NBA is 9-12 months Any timeline that had Thompson returning before the All-Star break […]
