Racing’s homebred Wildman Jack will return to a familiar course and distance Sept. 25 when he takes the rail position in the $200,000 Eddie D Stakes (G2T) at Santa Anita Park. Run at 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf, the Eddie D will have Wildman Jack back in the setting of his May 23 Daytona Stakes (G3T) victory. Daisuke Fukumoto and Mighty Heart ran away with the $1-million Queen’s Plate on Saturday. Fukumoto took his one-eyed mount to the lead from the start, then surged to a stunning 7 1/2-length triumph in the opening leg of the OLG Canadian Triple Crown at Woodbine Racetrack. Mighty Heart, a 13/1 longshot, lost an eye in a paddock accident with his mother as a foal. Authentic dueled with Tiz the Law in the final turn and upset the heavy favorite to conquest the 146th Kentucky Derby on Saturday at Churchill Downs. Art Collector, the likely second wagering option Saturday in the 146th Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs, is out after suffering a minor foot ailment. The bombshell of bad news spread quickly Tuesday morning at Churchill and beyond, shortly after Art Collector did not appear on the track. Kentucky Derby scratches general admission

Churchill Downs officials expect less than 23,000 fans will be able to attend next month’s rearranged Kentucky Derby under an updated health and safety plan. The plan eliminates general admission and standing room only areas, with total capacity limited to less than 14 percent of the 2015 attendance record of 170,513. Thousand Words upset 1-5 favorite Honor A. P. by three-quarters of a length in the $100,000 Shared Belief Stakes at Del Mar last Saturday, giving trainer Bob Baffert another candidate for next month’s Kentucky Derby.
