Yankees shut down Luis Severino with forearm soreness

New York Yankees starter Luis Severino has been shut down with soreness in his right forearm. Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Thursday that the right-hander will see Dr. Chris Ahmad, the team’s physician, Friday. However, GM Brian Cashman told reporters Severino won’t see the team doctor, adding that he’s uncertain if this is a short or long-term issue. Boone noted Severino has a loose body in his pitching elbow and that the soreness dates back to his last playoff start versus the Houston Astros on Oct. 15. Last year was a mess for Severino. After heading into the season with high expectations, he was immediately shut down in spring […]

Timberwolves´ Karl-Anthony Towns out indefinitely due to injury

The Minnesota Timberwolves can’t seem to catch a break. Trading for D’Angelo Russell before the deadline on Feb. 6 was met with a wave of optimism for the Wolves’ future going forward. They landed the point guard they’ve been chasing for almost a year, and it’ll subdue and fears of Karl-Anthony Towns bolting now that one of his best friends in the league is suiting up alongside him. The posibilities of making the playoffs this season are slim to none, but at the very least the pairing of Towns and Russell could develop some on-court chemistry before next campaign. That plan may be delayed, though, as […]

Phillies´ Andrew McCutchen upbeat about recovery from knee injury

Andrew McCutchen can speak firsthand about modern medical advancements. He tore his ACL last year – and it wasn’t the first time. ”I had an ACL injury when I was in high school, so to kind of compare the two, as far as the process goes and the rehab, it’s a lot quicker,” the Philadelphia outfielder said Monday. ”You’re doing things a lot faster maybe than you did 16, 17 years ago. At the same time, I’m not 16 and rehabbing. I’m 33 now.” McCutchen played only 59 matches last year before going down with a torn ACL in early […]

The Orlando Magic have struggled to open 2019-20 and will apparently be shorthanded moving forward. All-Star center Nikola Vucevic was diagnosed with a right lateral ankle sprain and will be re-evaluated in 7-10 days. Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that the injury should sideline Vucevic for a month. The Magic are currently 6-8, but are 0-5 on the road after falling to the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night.   Vucevic and forward Aaron Gordon both suffered right ankle injuries in the second quarter of Wednesday’s game. Vucevic used two crutches to leave the locker room afterward, while Gordon had one. Vucevic is […]

Nets´ Irving to miss third consecutive game with shoulder injury

Kyrie Irving missed Saturday’s Brooklyn Nets victory over the Chicago Bulls with a shoulder impingement, but he doesn’t appear to have improved enough for a return. After missing Monday night’s game versus the Indiana Pacers, the Nets announced that their star point guard would miss Wednesday’s game versus the Charlotte Hornets with that same injury, and while he isn’t projected to be out for too long, his continued absence is going to be a problem for Brooklyn.  The Nets lost Caris LeVert to a thumb injury last week. Brooklyn is extremely dependent on just three players to create plays for them offensively. The combination of Irving, LeVert and Spencer Dinwiddie are responsible for over […]
