Clayton Kershaw beats Tampa Bay Rays again as Los Angeles Dodgers move one win away from Series

As Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts strolled to the mound with two outs in the top of the sixth inning, a chorus of boos rained down from the crowd at Globe Life Field. Even though this was Game 5 of Major League Baseball’s first neutral-site World Series, Dodgers fans have overrun the stadium, and they let their feelings be known: They did not want Roberts to remove Clayton Kershaw from the match. Roberts did not abide, and as Kershaw strode off the mound, it was to a sound too often unfamiliar to him in October: cheers. If ever there was a postseason to […]

Los Angeles Dodgers take game 1 of World Series

Going into his Game 1 World Series start for the Los Angeles Dodgers versus the Tampa Bay Rays in Arlington, Texas, Kershaw’s pedestrian 11-12 career playoff record and 4.31 ERA is nearly two full runs worse than his 2.43 career ERA and unheard of 175-76 record. His career 5.40 World Series ERA in five prior starts and his October struggles follow Kershaw 12 months a year every year, and will until the future Hall Of Fame lefty exorcises his playoff demons. It didn’t matter that the 32-year-old winner of three Cy Young Awards, one MVP and five league ERA titles […]

Dodgers put Walker Buehler on IL, reinstate Joe Kelly

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed starting pitcher Walker Buehler on the injured list Thursday due to a lingering blister issue in his pitching hand and reinstated hard-throwing reliever Joe Kelly, who will start serving his five-game suspension for his confrontation with Houston Astros hitters in late July. Buehler was placed on the IL in late August because of the same blister, which resides on his right index finger, and he missed a couple of turns through the rotation. He pitched five scoreless innings in his return on Sept. 2, but gave up five runs (two earned) in the third inning versus the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday and later was […]

Dodgers pitcher David Price says he won’t play 2020 season

Dodgers’ Justin Turner proposes HR derby to end extra-inning games

Justin Turner has an idea on how to rid baseball of endless extra-inning games.  The Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman said he wants to push MLB to decide extra-inning games via home run derby. “This is my opportunity to push for a home run derby in extra innings,” Turner told Access Sportsnet Dodgers. “Instead of playing 17 innings, you get one extra inning, you play the 10th inning, and [if] no one scores, then you go to a home run derby. You take each team’s three best hitters and you give them all five outs, and see who hits the […]

Max Muncy signs deal with Dodgers

Coming off an All-Star appearance in 2019, the Los Angeles Dodgers have rewarded Max Muncy with a contract extension.  Los Angeles announced the deal Thursday after The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported Muncy’s deal is worth $26 million over three years and includes a fourth-year team option for $13 million. Muncy’s deal comes as the Dodgers continue to wait for their acquisition of Mookie Betts and David Price as part of a three-team deal with the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins to become finalized.  ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported that trade is currently on hold after the Red Sox “were spooked” by their medical review of Twins pitching prospect Brusdar Graterol. Graterol, 21, had Tommy […]

Nationals ace Max Scherzer scattered four hits and one run over seven innings to earn the victory. Virginia Beach’s Daniel Hudson, a former Old Dominion University […]
