Jets WR Quincy Enunwa not giving up on playing again despite career-threatening neck injury

New York Jets wide receiver Quincy Enunwa, fighting a career-threatening neck injury that will keep him off the field in 2020, still hopes to play again one day. But that decision, he said, no longer is in his control. In an interview with ESPN, Enunwa stated Wednesday it was “devastating” to learn recently he had been ruled out for the season. Now, he said, the only thing he can do is play the waiting game. “If I’m capable of playing, then that’s what I’ll do,” he said, making his first public comments since the end of the campaign. “If it comes down […]

Jets signing Joe Flacco to one year deal

Less than a month after undergoing a neck procedure, Joe Flacco has found employment. Flacco has agreed to a one-year deal with the New York Jets, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported. The deal will pay Flacco $1.5 million and includes another $3 million in incentives, Garafolo added. Flacco underwent a 45-minute disc repair in early April, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported in early May. He’s on schedule to be cleared sometime between late August to mid-September, Pelissero added at the time. Flacco spent 2019 in Denver, where he was acquired via trade to be the starter but suffered a neck injury […]

Two years after signing a four-year, $38 million contract extension with the Jacksonville Jaguars, wide receiver Marqise Lee finds himself in a much different place as he hopes to revitalize his career. He’s at the bottom with the New England Patriots — and embracing it. Lee, who was selected in the second round of the 2014 draft by the Jaguars and was released in April, was signed by the Patriots to a one-year contract with $300,000 guaranteed. He said he has landed in the right spot to put his past two injury-filled seasons behind him. The 6-foot, 196-pound Lee missed the 2018 season because of […]

Chiefs release Pro Bowl punter Dustin Colquitt after 15 seasons

After 15 years with the Kansas City Chiefs, Dustin Colquitt is moving on. The longtime punter posted a farewell to Chiefs fans via Instagram on Tuesday morning, and NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero has since reported Kansas City is releasing the former Pro Bowler. There has already been some speculation Colquitt, who will turn 38 in May, is planning to retire following his departure from K.C., but 610 KCSP’s Bob Fescoe has stated that’s not the case. Instead, the veteran will hit the open market, saving the Chiefs approximately $2 million in 2020 salary cap space. Colquitt was a staple of […]

President Trump states NFL season should start on time

The coronavirus pandemic has led to a shutdown of sports worldwide, but the NFL has been able to sidestep any major postponements or cancellations by virtue of its regular season not being programmed to get underway until September. While that’s currently four months away, the COVID-19 outbreak has yet to reach its crescendo, and the league is doing all it can to avoid cancelling the 2020 NFL Draft — as some owners consider virtual drafting from quarantine. The outlook for professional football starting on time looks bleak on its face. However, on an April 4 conference call with major league […]

Michael Brockers rejoins Rams after deal with Ravens falls through

Michael Brockers‘ deal with the Baltimore Ravens fell through over an issue with his ankle, and the free-agent defensive lineman will be returning to the Los Angeles Rams with a similar deal on Friday. Brockers, 29, reached agreement on a three-year, $30 million deal with Baltimore on March 16, the first day of the NFL’s negotiating period. But an independent doctor expressed concern over his left ankle, which he injured in the 2019 season finale. A new agreement couldn’t be reached with the Ravens. Brockers now has agreed to a three-year deal worth up to a maximum $31.5 million with […]

Titans release RB Dion Lewis, LB Cameron Wake

The Tennessee Titans have a big question to answer at running back, but it won’t include Dion Lewis. Tennessee is releasing Lewis, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source informed of the situation. The Titans announced Lewis’ release along with the parting of ways with defensive end Cam Wake. Wake is a five-time Pro Bowl selections, but played just one campaign in Tennessee. The 38-year-old spent 10 seasons with the Dolphins before coming over to the Titans last offseason. However, he played in just nine matches for the Titans with no starts, tallying 2.5 sacks before he was put on injured reserve. Coming off an injury and considering his age, Wake’s future […]

Patriots exercise option on CV Jason McCourty

Free agency is still a couple of weeks away but moves are starting to be made around the league. One minor one involving the Patriots happened Wednesday. According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, the Patriots intend to pick up Jason McCourty’s team option for 2020, which could earn him roughly $3.8 million with a cap hit around $5.5 million. Obviously the first thing that comes to mind when hearing the news is perhaps this will serve as an added incentive for his twin brother, Devin, to return to the Patriots. Devin McCourty is set to hit the free agency market […]

Mike Adams announces retirement

Safety Mike Adams has decided to call it a career. Adams announced his retirement during an appearance on NFL Network on Wednesday. Adams signed with the Texans last September and appeared in eight matches over the regular season and playoffs for the team. The 2019 season was Adams’ 16th in the NFL and that was an impressive run given the quiet start to his career. Adams went undrafted coming out of Delaware and failed to make the 49ers out of camp, but did make it to the active roster that November. He would spend three years with the 49ers before moving on […]
