Right-hander Yu Darvish is planned to start Opening Day for the San Diego Padres next Thursday versus the Arizona Diamondbacks, manager Jayce Tingler stated. Darvish, 34, was obtained from the Chicago Cubs along with catcher Victor Caratini on Dec. 29 in exchange for Zach Davies and four prospects. Darvish concluded second in National League Cy Young Award voting for 2020 after going 8-3 with a 2.01 ERA. The San Diego Padres have added another big name this offseason, signing Korean star infielder Ha-seong Kim to a four-year contract. The Padres formally announced the signing on Thursday.
