Nassourdine Imavov stops Jared Cannonier in UFC main event

Nassourdine Imavov earned the biggest victory of his UFC career on Saturday, defeating former title challenger Jared Cannonier by TKO in the fourth round. Imavov (14-4) finished Cannonier (17-7) with punches along the fence at 1:34 of the fourth round in their middleweight main event inside KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky. It was a solid performance by Imavov, although there was some controversy over the finish. Imavov hurt Cannonier with a right hand and had him in trouble along the fence, although veteran referee Jason Herzog did appear to be a little quick in stopping the fight. Cannonier was still very aware […]

Islam Makhachev submits Dustin Poirier to retain UFC title

Dustin Poirier is widely recognized as the greatest UFC fighter to never hold an undisputed championship, and Islam Makhachev made sure that remained true Saturday night, submitting him in the fifth round to retain the lightweight title during UFC 302 at the Prudential Center. Makhachev had to fight hard versus a resilient adversary who did everything in his power to dethrone UFC’s No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in front of a crowd that desperately wanted to see Poirier achieve his dream. Thibaut Courtois has stated he is “ready” to start in Saturday’s Champions League final versus Borussia Dortmund if called upon despite only recently returning from a long-term injury. Sidelined for much of the season after suffering two serious knee injuries, Courtois has kept clean sheets in the four games he has started since returning to action on May 4 versus Cádiz. “I feel 100% and ready for who the coach decides to play at Wembley,” Courtois told Diario AS. “We […]

Jack Catterall beats Josh Taylor by unanimous decision in rematch

Jack Catterall got the revenge he has craved for so long, defeating Josh Taylor by unanimous decision in their junior welterweight rematch in Leeds on Saturday night. After losing the first fight in controversial fashion in February 2022 in Scotland, Catterall came out on top, although the result again split opinions. The fight certainly lived up to expectations, and fans were treated to 12 rounds of nonstop action as a reward for the two-year wait between the original and the rematch. It was Catterall, though, who was rewarded on the scorecards, with two of the judges scoring it 117-111 and […]

Pep Guardiola takes blame for Man City’s loss in FA Cup final

Pep Guardiola has taken the blame for Manchester City’s FA Cup final loss by saying he got his game-plan wrong versus Manchester United. United won 2-1 at Wembley on Saturday thanks to goals from teenagers Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo. City missed a number of opportunities in the second half before Jérémy Doku pulled a late goal back, but Guardiola insisted afterwards the defeat was his fault. “For my decisions, we were not in the right positions to attack them,” Guardiola told a news conference. “My mistake. My game plan was not good. Tactically, it was not good. I was not good, today.” Looking for the best […]
