Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder David Peralta will undergo season-ending surgery on his right shoulder, manager Torey Lovullo revealed Tuesday. “David has elected to have surgery on his right shoulder,” Lovullo told 98.7 FM’s “Burns & Gambo” show. “I don’t know what the diagnosis is or what the procedure will be, but his 2019 season is over.” Peralta is expected to be fully recovered in time for spring training in February, Lovullo added. The rookie season of wide receiver Hakeem Butler is over. The Cardinals placed Butler on injured reserve Sunday with his hand injury, and because they did so during the preseason, Butler is ineligible to be one of the two allowed players to return from IR this season. A player must be on the 53-man roster in Week One to be eligible to return later in the season from IR. The Cards also put safety Josh Shaw, who hurt his shoulder in the preseason opener against the Chargers, on injured reserve. Denver Broncos president of football operations John Elway revealed he underwent treatment for Dupuytren’s contracture in both his hands. “I had it on both hands,” Elway told Jarrett Bell of USA Today. “Both of my fingers are straight again. It’s not something that can be cured. But they can definitely treat it. It has a chance to come back. My hands have come back great.
