Celtics forward Gordon Hayward started Monday night versus the Cleveland Cavaliers and scored 14 points, returning to the Boston lineup ahead of schedule in his return from a broken hand. Hayward received a loud ovation when he was introduced and got his first basket on a fast-break layup nearly halfway into the opening quarter. Royals sign Trevor Rosenthal to minor league deal

The Royals have signed hard-throwing right-hander Trevor Rosenthal to a minor league deal, per Lynn Worthy of the Kansas City Star. The deal will pay the 29-year-old $2MM if he makes the team with an additional $2.25MM in performance bonuses, per Worthy. Additionally, Rosenthal will be a non-roster invite to MLB spring training. The Carolina Panthers are in a state of flux as they parted ways with Ron Rivera, their head coach of nine years. The Oakland A’s agreed to terms with left-handed pitcher Jake Diekman on a two-year contract through the 2021 season with a club option for 2022, the club announced. The A’s also agreed to terms with right-handed pitcher Jordan Weems and outfielder Dillon Thomas on minor league contracts with invites to Spring Training. The Reds showed just how serious they were about upgrading their lineup this offseason on Monday. Cincinnati and free agent Mike Moustakas have agreed to a four-year $64 million contract, sources told MLB.com.
