Phillies´ Andrew McCutchen upbeat about recovery from knee injury

Andrew McCutchen can speak firsthand about modern medical advancements. He tore his ACL last year – and it wasn’t the first time. ”I had an ACL injury when I was in high school, so to kind of compare the two, as far as the process goes and the rehab, it’s a lot quicker,” the Philadelphia outfielder said Monday. ”You’re doing things a lot faster maybe than you did 16, 17 years ago. At the same time, I’m not 16 and rehabbing. I’m 33 now.” McCutchen played only 59 matches last year before going down with a torn ACL in early […]

Red Sox promote Ron Roenicke to interim manager

The Boston Red Sox have replaced former manager Alex Cora with bench coach Ron Roenicke as interim manager, the team announced Tuesday. Cora parted ways with the team last month following his role in the Houston Astros sign-stealing scheme in 2017 when he was the Astros bench coach. Cora, who led the Red Sox to a World Series title in 2018, was not penalized in the Astros investigation because Major League Baseball is still investigating allegations that the Red Sox organization employed a similar system of using technology to steal signs during their World Series Championship season. “We were recently made aware of allegations […]

The deal is worth $32.5 million, per Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic. Ahmed was set to hit free agency after this coming season, so it includes his final arbitration year and the first three years of would-be free agency.  Ahmed heads to his age-30 season coming off the best year of his career. Max Muncy signs deal with Dodgers

Coming off an All-Star appearance in 2019, the Los Angeles Dodgers have rewarded Max Muncy with a contract extension.  Los Angeles announced the deal Thursday after The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported Muncy’s deal is worth $26 million over three years and includes a fourth-year team option for $13 million. Muncy’s deal comes as the Dodgers continue to wait for their acquisition of Mookie Betts and David Price as part of a three-team deal with the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins to become finalized.  ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported that trade is currently on hold after the Red Sox “were spooked” by their medical review of Twins pitching prospect Brusdar Graterol. Mets assessing manager Carlos Beltran after Astros fallout

While commissioner Rob Manfred has cleared Carlos Beltran of possible discipline in the Houston Astros’ sign-stealing scandal of 2017, the New York Mets’ silence about their newly hired manager continues. Sources told ESPN that the Mets are assessing the situation involving Beltran, who is supposed to open spring training with the team next month in what would be his rookie season as a big league manager.
