Jets trading QB Zach Wilson to Broncos

The New York Jets, who thought they had the quarterback position locked up for more than a decade when they drafted Zach Wilson with the No. 2 pick in 2021, traded him to the Denver Broncos on Monday. Based on their original investment, the Jets got pennies on the dollar — they will get a sixth-round selection (No. 203) in this week’s NFL draft from the Broncos, who in addition to Wilson will get a seventh-round pick (No. 256). The Jets and Broncos are splitting the $5.5 million Wilson is due this season with each team paying $2.75 million. The trade means that only one […]

Inter Milan clinch 20th Serie A title with win over AC Milan

Inter Milan defeated city rivals AC Milan 2-1 on Monday to clinch the Serie A title, the 20th time the club has lifted the trophy in its history. Goals either side of half-time by Francesco Acerbi and Marcus Thuram set Inter on their way, but Fikayo Tomori pulled one back for AC Milan in the 80th minute and each side had a player sent off shortly before the end of the match as tempers flared. Inter were able to see out the result, though, and when the whistle blew to end the game they sat on an insurmountable 86 points, 17 clear of Milan with five matches to play in the […]

Saul strike earns Atletico Madrid hard-fought win at Villarreal

Substitute Saúl Ñíguez scored a late winner to give Atletico Madrid a hard-fought 2-1 triumph at Villarreal on Monday, as Diego Simeone’s side climbed back into LaLiga’s top four with eight matches left in the season. It was a much needed victory for Atletico after two consecutive losses and two wins in their last seven league matches had left them in danger of missing out on a Champions League spot next season. They were facing an in-form Villarreal side, who were on a four-game winning streak and undefeated in their last nine league matches, a run that earned Marcelino Garcia LaLiga’s Coach of Month award in […]

Clippers to get Russell Westbrook back next week, says Ty Lue

LA Clippers point guard Russell Westbrook will return to the lineup some time next week, coach Ty Lue stated before his team’s 125-117 win at Portland on Friday night. Westbrook could be back to game action as soon as Monday versus the Indiana Pacers, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Monday’s game versus the Pacers will mark three weeks from when Westbrook underwent surgery to repair a fractured left hand he suffered March 1 against the Washington Wizards. The Clippers have missed the aggressive energy and hustle of one of the league’s top sixth men. They are 6-5 without their one-time MVP point guard. Westbrook is averaging 11.1 points, 5.1 […]

Djokovic stunned by ‘lucky loser’ Nardi at Indian Wells

Luca Nardi used a combination of poise and power to stun his boyhood idol and top-seeded Novak Djokovic 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 on Monday night in the third round of the BNP Paribas Open. Nardi, who is ranked No. 123, closed out his huge upset over the No. 1 player in the rankings with an ace. The 20-year-old from Italy dropped his racket and brought his hands to his face almost in disbelief before greeting Djokovic at the net. “This is a miracle,” Nardi stated in an interview after the match on the Tennis Channel. “I’m a 20-years-old guy, 100 in the world, and […]

Clippers’ Russell Westbrook has surgery on left hand

LA Clippers guard Russell Westbrook — one of the NBA’s top sixth men — underwent surgery on his fractured left hand on Monday, and there’s hope he’ll return before the start of the Western Conference playoffs in April, sources told ESPN. The club described his status as week-to-week. Westbrook fractured his non-shooting hand in a Friday night triumph over the visiting Washington Wizards. He will now start rehabilitation to return to the Clippers, who have emerged as a championship contender this campaign. Westbrook returned in less than four weeks after fracturing his right hand in 2014 with the Oklahoma City Thunder, missing only 14 matches. […]

Dodgers trade Manuel Margot to Twins, add Kiké Hernández

The Dodgers also will send cash to help cover the $12 million owed Margot — $10 million this year and a $2 million buyout on a $12 million club option, a source told ESPN. Andy Murray admits it could be ‘months’ before retirement

Andy Murray stated that he may only have a few months left of his career after defeating Denis Shapovalov in Dubai on Monday. Speaking after the victory, Murray, 36, said: “I probably don’t have too long left but I’ll do as best as I can these last few months. “I still love competing and still love the game but it gets harder and harder to compete the older you get, to keep your body fit and fresh.” Murray’s win over the Canadian was his second of the 2024 season after he endured a torrid start that saw him lose his first four […]
