Dodgers put Walker Buehler on IL, reinstate Joe Kelly

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed starting pitcher Walker Buehler on the injured list Thursday due to a lingering blister issue in his pitching hand and reinstated hard-throwing reliever Joe Kelly, who will start serving his five-game suspension for his confrontation with Houston Astros hitters in late July. Buehler was placed on the IL in late August because of the same blister, which resides on his right index finger, and he missed a couple of turns through the rotation. Rafael Nadal is preparing his return to tennis after a seven-month layoff at next week’s Italian Open. “The Foro Italico is always a special place for me and even more so this year as it will be my first tournament following a long period without playing,” Nadal, who has gained the Rome tournament a record nine times, said in a video message played at the event’s presentation on Tuesday. The Pirates announced Thursday that they’ve placed right-hander Keone Kela and infielder Colin Moran on the injured list. Kela heads to the 10-day IL with forearm tightness, while Moran is on the 7-day concussion list. Both moves are retroactive to Aug. 24.
