Jose Urena one of four Marlins players to test positive

Before starting their series rubber match with the Phillies and traveling back home to host the Orioles, multiple Marlins players reportedly tested positive for coronavirus. According to Sports Grid’s Craig Mish, at least four players tested positive for COVID-19. One of those players is starting pitcher Jose Urena, per MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, while one of the position players is reportedly first baseman Garrett Cooper. Urena was booked to start versus Philadelphia Sunday but was scratched a few hours before game time. Orioles put Dwight Smith Jr. on IL; John Means Iffy for Opening Day start

The Baltimore Orioles placed outfielder Dwight Smith Jr. on the 10-day injured list Monday, and manager Brandon Hyde isn’t sure if left-hander John Means will be able to start the opener at Boston on Friday night. Smith recently returned to the team after testing positive for COVID-19 and still needs time to get into baseball shape. The Washington Nationals’ defense of the 2019 World Series championship will start on July 23rd, provided Major League Baseball can pull off a season during an ongoing pandemic. Reports that the Washington Nationals would be one of four teams playing on Opening Day for 2020’s MLB campaign on July 23rd came out a while back, but the MLB released the official, full schedule for the 60-game season. David Price, the former Cy Young Award winner who was heading into his first campaign with the Los Angeles Dodgers, became the latest player to opt out of the 2020 season on Saturday, alluding to health concerns because of the coronavirus pandemic. Phillies place four on injured list without specifying reason

According to the transactions list on the Phillies’ official website, the team has placed four players on the 10-day injured list. The players are Scott Kingery, Ranger Suarez, Tommy Hunter and Hector Neris. Major League Baseball will cut its 2020 draft to five rounds, as owners looking to save costs in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic pushed for fewer rounds over the objection of front-office officials, sources told ESPN.
