LeBron has triple-double, Lakers defeat Nets

The Los Angeles Lakers handed the Brooklyn Nets their fifth straight loss by defeating them 128-113 at Barclays Center on Thursday night.  The Lakers led by as many as 10 points in the opening quarter, but Brooklyn climbed back and cut the deficit to 38-35 entering the second. That would be a trend throughout the match. The third quarter saw the Lakers with a 90-77 lead, only for the Nets to put together a 12-2 run and make it a one-possession game once again.  The Lakers were finally able to pull away in the fourth quarter, entering with a 10-point lead and building from there. The […]

Pelicans forward Zion Williamson excited ahead of NBA debut

Zion Williamson’s debut is emerging, with him set to make his long-awaited NBA debut on Wednesday night versus the San Antonio Spurs. The path back to the court hasn’t been easy for the No. 1 overall pick of the 2019 Draft, but he’s ready, at last, to play. “The rehab workouts are long and strenuous,” Williamson said Tuesday. “There were a lot of times where I wanted to punch a wall or kick a chair. It’s frustrating to not be able to move your body the way you want to, especially since I’m 19. It’s been tough, but I battled […]

Magic F Jonathan Isaac to miss at least 2 months with knee injury

The Orlando Magic announced on Thursday that forward Jonathan Isaac will miss at least two months with a knee injury suffered Wednesday versus the Washington Wizards. Isaac attempted to eurostep past Wizards guard Bradley Beal on a drive to the rim, but he landed on Beal’s foot before crumpling to the floor. Isaac was taken off the court on a stretcher and initially diagnosed with a hyperextended left knee before MRI results on Thursday showed that he suffered a severe sprain labeled a “posterior lateral corner injury” and a bone contusion. He did not suffer major ligament damage. The Magic said they plan on evaluating […]

Nuggets go for fifth straight with Timberwolves

The Denver Nuggets have recovered from a disappointing road trip with a strong homestand. Friday will determine if they head into another couple of hard road matches on a winning streak or another disappointing defeat. The Nuggets are 4-0 since losing three of four games on an Eastern Conference swing, and to get their fifth straight victory would require beating a struggling Minnesota team. The Timberwolves have lost eight in a row and now embark on a four-game road trip. Minnesota’s streak continued Wednesday night with a loss to the New Orleans Pelicans — a team which entered that contest on its own 13-game […]

Bucks winning streak ends with loss to Mavericks

The Bucks have little time to reflect on the end of their 18-game winning streak. Milwaukee’s lengthy run was halted Monday night when Seth Curry and Kristaps Porzingis each scored 26 points to help the visiting Dallas Mavericks pull out a 120-116 win without guard Luka Doncic. Milwaukee, which dropped to 24-4 with its first defeat since a 103-100 setback Nov. 8 at Utah, next hosts the Lakers (24-3) on Thursday in a matchup of conference leaders. “It’s going to be a test for us,” said Giannis Antetokounmpo, who led the Bucks with 48 points and 14 rebounds. “The Lakers […]

LA Clippers Patrick Beverley exits with concussion against Toronto Raptors

Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma missed Wednesday night’s 96-87 victory versus the Orlando Magic because of a sprained left ankle. The three-year veteran injured his ankle nearly two weeks ago versus the Washington Wizards but had continued to play on it through soreness and discomfort, the team said. The Lakers’ medical staff stepped in to hold him out against the Magic as the Lakers begin a five-game road trip, hoping the ankle can heal fully before Kuzma plays more games. His status is considered day-to-day. It’s been a difficult season thus far for Kuzma, dubbed the third member of the Lakers’ big three alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis, […]

Kemba Walker reported with sprained neck

Boston Celtics point guard Kemba Walker is doubtful to suit up when his team faces the Sacramento Kings on Monday, as he continues his recovery from a neck sprain. The ninth-year veteran is averaging 21.1 points, 4.7 assists and 4.6 rebounds per match in his first campaing with the team. Walker suffered a scary injury on Friday, Nov. 22, when his head collided with teammate Semi Ojeleye’s torso while going for a steal versus the Denver Nuggets. He was stretchered off the court and diagnosed with concussion-like symptoms postgame. Celtics head coach Brad Stevens said postgame that all of Walker’s scans came back with “positive results.” The ex-UConn star missed […]

Nikola Vucevic has ankle sprain, out 4 weeks at least

The Orlando Magic have struggled to open 2019-20 and will apparently be shorthanded moving forward. All-Star center Nikola Vucevic was diagnosed with a right lateral ankle sprain and will be re-evaluated in 7-10 days. Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that the injury should sideline Vucevic for a month. The Magic are currently 6-8, but are 0-5 on the road after falling to the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night.   Vucevic and forward Aaron Gordon both suffered right ankle injuries in the second quarter of Wednesday’s game. Vucevic used two crutches to leave the locker room afterward, while Gordon had one. Vucevic is […]

Nets´ Irving to miss third consecutive game with shoulder injury

Kyrie Irving missed Saturday’s Brooklyn Nets victory over the Chicago Bulls with a shoulder impingement, but he doesn’t appear to have improved enough for a return. After missing Monday night’s game versus the Indiana Pacers, the Nets announced that their star point guard would miss Wednesday’s game versus the Charlotte Hornets with that same injury, and while he isn’t projected to be out for too long, his continued absence is going to be a problem for Brooklyn.  The Nets lost Caris LeVert to a thumb injury last week. Brooklyn is extremely dependent on just three players to create plays for them offensively. The combination of Irving, LeVert and Spencer Dinwiddie are responsible for over […]

Kings snap Celtics 10-game winning streak

The Boston Celtics were an unlucky bounce away from extending an historic start to their season. Instead, the Sacramento Kings walked away with a huge win. Buddy Hield scored a season-high 35 points, Richaun Holmes hit two free throws with 13.3 seconds remaining to give Sacramento the lead, and the Kings snapped the Celtics’ 10-game winning streak with a 100-99 victory Sunday. Marcus Smart had an oportunity to win it for Boston, but his runner in the lane bounced around the rim before trickling off as the buzzer sounded. ”The ball just felt like it sat on the rim forever,” Smart said. ”I thought it was going in.
