Injury-ravaged Cavs sign Marcus Morris Sr. to 10-day deal

Missing three regular starters with injuries, the Cleveland Cavaliers signed forward Marcus Morris Sr. to a 10-day contract on Monday to give them some depth. Morris played in 37 matches earlier this season for Philadelphia before being traded to San Antonio on Feb. 8. The 34-year-old agreed to a buyout with the Spurs and was waived Feb. 29, allowing him to stay eligible for the postseason. It’s possible he’ll stay beyond his 10-day contract with the Cavs, who have been wrecked by injuries. Cleveland has lost three of four and is just 4-6 in its last 10 games. Doc Rivers gets earful from 76ers fans; Bucks get last word

Doc Rivers wasn’t sure what kind of reception he would receive in his return to Philadelphia, eight months after the 76ers dismissed him as coach. “Do they give coaches big receptions?” Rivers stated before his new team, the Milwaukee Bucks, defeated Philadelphia 119-98 on Sunday. When a reporter told Rivers he was different, he acknowledged the validity of the statement but noted he still hadn’t thought much about it. However, the crowd in Philadelphia came prepared, delivering a resounding chorus of boos when Rivers’ name was announced before tipoff. “I didn’t even hear it, to be honest,” Rivers said with a smile after […]

Pistons suffer 25th straight loss, hear chants of ‘sell the team’

Kelly Olynyk scored 25 points and the short-handed Utah Jazz defeated Detroit 119-111 on Thursday night for the Pistons’ 25th consecutive loss, one short of the NBA single-season record. The 2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers and 2013-14 Philadelphia 76ers share the record at 26. The 76ers hold the overall mark at 28, a skid that started in the 2014-15 season and carried over into 2015-16. “I want to be careful with my words, because this one hurts more than most of them,” first-year coach Monty Williams said. “A team that played last night got [50] points off turnovers and rebounds. It is unbelievably hard to understand how we can […]
