LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers return home for Game 6 of the 2016 NBA Finals after a stunning performance Monday night with their backs against the wall, winning 112-97.

The Cavs handed defending champion Golden State just its fourth defeat at sold-out Oracle Arena all season, denying MVP Stephen Curry and the Warriors a chance to celebrate a second straight title with their golden-clad “Strength In Numbers” supporters. Now, Curry and Co. must try to win on the road just the way the Warriors did last year and also in their only other championship season out West in 1975.

The Warriors will get Green back Thursday as they try again for that repeat title.

The Cavaliers were able to stave off elimination with a hard-fought 112-97 win over the Warriors on Monday. The Cavs relied heavily on LeBron James and Kyrie Irving in Game 4 without success but that wasn’t the case in Game 5 as they combined for 82 points in one of the best scoring displays I’ve seen all year. James attacked the basket early and often to finish with 41 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists while Irving poured in 41 points with six assists on 17 of 24 shooting from the field. Kevin Love was inserted back into the starting lineup after starting off the bench in Game 4 but you wouldn’t have even noticed him as he scored just two points in 33 minutes of action.

As for the Warriors, Klay Thompson continued his hot form with a team-high 27 points on 11 of 20 shooting but he just didn’t get enough help from his teammates. Stephen Curry added 25 points of his own, but shot just eight of 21 from the field, Harrison Barnes shot just two of 14 for his five points while Andre Iguodala was inserted into the starting lineup in place of the suspended Draymond Green and had himself a strong outing with 15 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. Warriors center Andrew Bogut went down early in the third quarter with a knee injury and is currently undergoing an MRI exam so his status for Game 6 is up in the air, but the Warriors will likely go with Festus Ezeli or Mareese Speights if he is unable to suit up.
