Marsh returning to Seahawks on 1 year deal

Two years after being traded by Seattle, Marsh will return to town with a much better chance to contribute defensively. Looking to add some bite to their pass rush without breaking the bank, the Seahawks will turn to a familiar face. According to Brady Henderson of ESPN, Seattle has agreed to terms with defensive end Cassius Marsh on a one-year deal. Originally drafted by Seattle in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, Marsh played three seasons for the team, recording 41 tackles and 3.0 sacks in 37 games. The 6-foot-4, 245-pound defender struggled to carve out a role […]

Raiders add Ryan Grant to revamped WR corps

Former Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Ryan Grant signed with the Oakland Raiders on Wednesday. Grant becomes the latest addition to the Raiders’ revamped wide receiver corps this offseason, joining trade addition Antonio Brown and free-agent addition Tyrell Williams. Grant, 28, struggled to find a niche in the Colts’ offense last season, as it didn’t take long for him to slide down the team’s depth chart. The thought last season was that Grant would come in with extra motivation and solve the question on who would be the Colts’ second receiver to go with T.Y. Hilton after the Baltimore Ravens decided against signing Grant after the team said he failed his physical. Grant battled […]

OG Spain agrees to deal with Bills

Former Tennessee Titans guard Quinton Spain has agreed to a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills, the team announced Wednesday. Spain becomes the sixth offensive lineman added by the Bills in free agency, joining Spencer Long, Mitch Morse, Ty Nsekhe, Jon Feliciano and LaAdrian Waddle. Between these six lineman, the Bills have added 317 career games, 196 career starts and $39.05 million guaranteed (no including Spain). There is a strong possibility the Bills will have four new starters on their offensive line next season with the draft still to come. Spain, who has 48 starts over a four-year NFL career, was benched in Week 13 by the Titans, but he rebounded […]

Yankees Andujar has labrum tear, surgery possible

Third baseman Miguel Andujar became the ninth Yankees player to hit the injured list Monday, and his injured shoulder is reportedly worse than initially feared. Andujar sustained the injury while diving into a bag. As Hoch notes, the club isn’t making any snap decisions with regard to surgery, but it’s possible Andujar will be lost for the remainder of the season.  That would be a huge loss. The 24-year-old Andujar is coming off a 2018 season in which he racked up 27 home runs and 47 doubles and finished second in the AL Rookie of the Year balloting. Given the Yankees’ hopes that Andujar […]

Yankees place Stanton on IL with biceps strain

The New York Yankees placed outfielder Giancarlo Stanton on the 10-day injured list with a left biceps strain. In a corresponding move Monday, the team recalled outfielder Clint Frazier from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The Yankees haven’t given any indication of how Stanton suffered the injury or how much time he could miss. He’s the third Yankees outfielder to go on the injured list this young season, joining Aaron Hicks (lower back) and Jacoby Ellsbury (hip/plantar fasciitis). Stanton played in Sunday’s 7-5 loss, drawing three walks and striking out twice. The former National League MVP is batting .250 with seven walks in three games this season. Last year, his first in pinstripes, Stanton […]

Dodgers crush MLB-record 8 HRs in opening rout

Opening Day could not have been a more powerful success for the Dodgers, who hit eight home runs and got six strong innings from Hyun-Jin Ryu in a 12-5 rout of the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday afternoon. The eight home runs are the MLB record for a season-opening game and tie the franchise record for any day, not just Opening Day, previously set on May 23, 2002 in Milwaukee (also known as Shawn Green’s four-home run game). “We were wondering if it was a record,” said second baseman Kiké Hernandez, who hit two of the record-breakers. “Cool.” “Eight home runs […]

Indians’ Lindor out indefinitely with ankle injury

Cleveland shortstop Francisco Lindor is out indefinitely with an acute ankle sprain. The team announced the news Wednesday. Lindor has emerged as one of the best players in baseball. He hit .277 in 2018 while setting career-highs in homers (38), RBI (92), runs (129), stolen bases (25) and OPS (.871). He had a WAR of 7.9, per Baseball-Reference, while playing in his third All-Star Game and winning his second Silver Slugger at shortstop. He was also a Gold Glove winner in 2016. Few players offer both Lindor’s pop at the plate and his defensive prowess at a position of demand like shortstop. For that reason, […]

Angels’ Upton dealing with turf toe, to start on IL

Angels outfielder Justin Upton will open the season on the injured list because of a sore right big toe. Manager Brad Ausmus announced the injury Tuesday. He says Upton has “turf toe” and that no timetable has been determined for his return. Upton was injured in Sunday’s exhibition game against the Los Angeles Dodgers when he bumped into the left field wall while chasing a flyball. “It’s actually an injury you see a little more with offensive linemen and defensive linemen in the NFL,” general manager Billy Eppler said, according to the Los Angeles Times. “It’s caused when you’re essentially in a loaded position and […]

Barca target Rashford to replace Suarez

Barcelona are in the market for a new attacker after losing faith in Luis Suarez and have placed Marcus Rashford on a three-man shortlist to replace him. Suarez has scored 18 goals in 27 La Liga games for the Catalan giants this season but has failed to strike in six appearances in the Champions League. The former Liverpool striker is scoring less consistently than his early days at the Camp Nou and Barcelona are now preparing to replace the 32-year-old this summer. Rashford has emerged as one of the top targets to replace him, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo. […]

Cowboys agree with safety Iloka on 1-year deal

The Cowboys added their coveted free agent safety on Saturday night when George Iloka agreed to a one-year deal. Dallas had made it clear it was intent on shoring up the strong safety position previously owned by Jeff Heath ahead of next month’s draft, bringing in three safeties for visits since Monday. Iloka, most recently of the Minnesota Vikings, visited Friday and had agreed to terms by the next day. He fills Dallas’ immediate need on the back end. The Cowboys last week also brought in five-time Pro Bowler Eric Berry and Clayton Geathers, who ended up re-signing with Indianapolis. […]
