San Diego Padres vs Arizona Diamondbacks

San Diego Padres vs Arizona Diamondbacks

One of the primary reasons for the Arizona Diamondbacks’ struggles this year has been an inability to succeed at home. They will try again to reverse that trend when the last-place San Diego Padres come to town Monday for the first of three straight contests.

Diamondbacks third baseman Jake Lamb will enter the final week of the pre-All Star break season with a chance to share history with some of the franchise’s biggest names.

San Diego first baseman Wil Myers will look to continue his breakout season when the teams meet in the first game of a three-game series at Chase Field on Monday

Arizona right-hander Archie Bradley (3-4) will oppose Padres right-handerLuis Perdomo (2-3), each looking to cool off hot hitters and potential All-Star on the other side.

The Arizona Diamondbacks still have a shot at reaching .500 but going much further then that would be a stretch. The Diamondbacks haven’t had much go their way the past few weeks and that trend continued in a 5-4, eleven inning loss to visiting San Francisco as the Snakes lost for the 8th time in eleven contests. Zona starter Robbie Ray gave up four runs through six innings before Enrique Burgos gave up an 11th inning run to absorb the loss. The D-Backs posted nine hits with Jake Lamb smacking a two run homer while Paul Goldschmidt went deep and scored twice.Archie Bradley is scheduled to be on the hill to  oppose the Padres on Monday night. Bradley did not receive a decision in a 9-8 loss to Philadelphia with three runs plated on eight hits in six frames.
